David F. Schwartz has been structuring and negotiating complex transactions in the entertainment industry since 1995. Concentrating in theatre, film, and television, he represents and counsels award-winning producers, writers, directors, composers, performers, music directors/supervisors, and various other creatives, as well as investors and financiers.  In addition to guiding clients through deals with studios, streaming services, and production companies, he has provided legal counsel to dozens of theatrical and independent film productions (narrative and documentary), including The Lightning Thief (Broadway/national tour), national tours of Funny Girl, Come From Away, Mean Girls, Beetlejuice, Book of Mormon, Hairspray, The Prom, Once On This Island, A Bronx Tale, The King and I, Falsettos, Finding Neverland and Once, and Barry Levinson’s The Humbling (with Al Pacino).

 

Schwartz is also a Tony Award-winner, whose Broadway producing credits include The Band’s Visit (10 Tonys including Best Musical), Once (8 Tonys including Best Musical), and Hands on a Hardbody.  Schwartz received a B.A. from the University of Michigan, a J.D. from UC Law SF (formerly UC Hastings), and is licensed to practice law in New York, California, and Washington, D.C.
